Take hold of a box of salt (iodized tabular array table salt) from the dollar store. Every time y'all want to freshen upward the bottle (or your coffee pot or tea pot): put a good amount of common salt in the canteen, add some hot h2o, seal it and give er a skilful milk shake. You can add dish lather if they're really stubborn. This is what I do for my coffee pot, tea pot and thermos weekly to keep it clean :)

I've let it soak in soapy h2o overnight and and then used a canteen brush to scrub it off. Peradventure attempt a toothbrush too subsequently it soaks

Oxidation: Fiddling scoop of oxi clean in hot water. Soak for an hour, scrub it, rinse thoroughly.

A annotation: I used an oxidizing cleaner (PBW - much like oxi make clean) and I think it has caused the soft rubbery plastic on the exterior of the lid to degrade. That plastic always feels greasy now. It's probably sweating out information technology's plasticizers or something. Perhaps avoid oxi-clean unless necessary. Information technology did work like a hot-damn though.
