How To Remove Dual Os In Windows 10

How to use MSConfig to remove an Os from a dual kick configuration.

Update: Windows seven, XP, and Vista are no longer supported by Microsoft. For the latest, brand sure you are running Windows x or in a higher place. For more, check out how to dual boot with Windows ten.

A few weeks back I explained how to install Windows 7 in a Dual-Boot Configuration using a VHD file like the Windows vii Organisation Drive. A few days later I explained how to make Windows 7 in a Dual Boot scenario the primary kicking OS. At present after receiving nearly twenty emails on the topic from readers, I gauge it'south time to explain how to undo or delete the Windows 7 Dual Kicking configuration. My guess is the testing is done and they are going to wait for the aureate bits for Windows 7.

And then, let's go right to it. For your convenience, I've included not only the step-by-step instructions merely also a how-to video.

How-To Remove an Bone from Windows Dual Boot Config [Step-by-Step]

1.   Boot into the Non-Windows vii Os (original Os before you installed Windows seven as a dual-boot).  For nearly people, this would hateful booting into your Vista install however I'one thousand going to guess there might be a few who ready a Dual-Boot config with Windows 2008 also (me for instance).

two. Click the Windows Starting time button and type msconfig and press Enter (or click it with the mouse)

Launch MSConfig on Windows 7 System

2.   Click Boot Tab, click the OS yous want to proceed, and click Set as default

Delete Windows 7 Boot options from MSConfig Set Defualt OS in Dual-Boot MSCOnfig options

3.   Click Windows 7 OS and click Delete. Click OK

Delete Windows 7 Boot options from MSConfig

What you just did was remove Windows seven from the Windows Boot managing director so now it will no longer show up when you boot the calculator.  Essentially, the computer is no longer a Dual-Boot Arrangement (two Windows Versions installed).

The next steps are to only but delete the Windows 7 VHD file.

Delete Windows 7 .VHD file

Once you delete the Windows 7 VHD file all remnants of Windows seven will exist gone. Hopefully, this is how you installed Windows 7. If non, you will need to go to the Organisation drive you installed Windows seven and manually delete all the files and folders there. Exist careful not to remove anything needed by the current/original OS y'all desire to keep. If yous didn't install Windows 7 in a VHD file, hopefully, you installed it on its ain drive so yous can just format it.
